Sri Amma - MAHAYOGINI SHRI MANIKESHWARI MATHA. A story of illiteracy becoming into BRAHMA GNANAM, and torture of soul blossoming into BRAHMANANDAM. As it always happens that divine play is beyond explanation, so are the events, years and milestones of Amma’s life.
It is difficult to describe the unraveled mysteries of “Maya”. Sri Amma, many say is ‘Maha Maya’. And Maya is not when she appears to be there, but when one experiences her presence irresistibly, she doesn’t appear there.
Sri Amma in her mortal coils has made Yanagundi, a village of Sedam Taluk in Gulbarga District her abode. Legends abound about the curious hillock that has been visited by centuries of time, but remains unflatteringly divine. In olden days the hillock was known as Siddheswar Gutta. But as prophesised by Sri Prabhudas Appasaheb in 1949 when Sri Amma came to stay here, and later built the Shiva Temple, the hillock assumed the name of Manikgiri.
Sri Amma is a soul apart. Her aloofness and dignity surpass the over powering majesty of an emperor on his throne. She shuts herself up in her little unostentations cell and when darshan is given, which is BRAHMANANDAM. She talks with the utmost familiarity with man, woman and child on very mundane affairs while she communes still on the highest spiritual plane with supreme spirit.
She is here, yet not here. She can be in the realm of senses, and beyond.
She is the Universal Mother - JAGADAMBA.
A glimpse of here Lotus feet and divine smile is Salvation.
So be it.
